Die Priesbergalm erstreckt sich von 1.330 bis auf über 1.500 Meter Höhe oberhalb des Königssees in der Nähe des Jenners. Sie ist eine Hochalm, dass heißt: die Alm ist nur im Hochsommer bewirtschaftet, die ersten und die letzten Wochen des Almsommers verbringt das Almvieh auf der niedriger gelegenen Königsbachalm.
Gut erreichbar vom Jenner
Auf einem gut ausgebautem Weg, dem sogenannten Königsweg, kann man die Priesbergalm vom Wanderparkplatz Hinterbrand in etwa 2 Stunden erreichen. Oder Sie fahren mit der Jennerbahn bis zur Mittelstation oder der Bergstation und wandern dann zur Priesbergalm. An der Alm angekommen wartet eine Brotzeit mit Käse aus eigener Milch auf die hungrigen Almwanderer.
Grassl-EnzianbrennhütteSchon wenige Meter nach dem Betreten der Almfläche der Priesbergalm steht die Brennhütte der Enzianbrennerei Grassl! Hier wird noch händisch nach Enzianwurzeln gegraben, die dann auf der Alm von Hand zerkleinert, eingemaischt und zu feinstem Gebirgsenzian gebrannt werden. Der Bergbrenner Max Irlinger verbringt hier oben einen Großteil des Sommers.
Nach der Brennhütte beginnt das Priesbergmoos: Eine flache und sumpfige Weidefläche, die sich unterhalb der Kaser (Almhütten) erstreckt. Ein schmaler Pfad am Ende der Almfläche stellt eine wichtige Route für Wanderer und Bergsteiger dar. Sowohl der Untere Hirschenlauf in Richtung Gotzenalm, wie auch der Stiergraben in Richtung Seeleinsee und Kahlersberg werden auf diesem Weg erreicht. Berühmt ist die Priesbergalm für den beeindruckenden Ausblick auf die direkt gegenüberliegende Watzmann-Ostwand. Die schroffe 1.800 Meter hohe Felswand stellt einen krassen Gegensatz zu den sanften und grünen Wiesen der Hohen Rossfelder, die sich oberhalb der Priesbergalm und unterhalb des Fagsteins erstrecken, dar.
Mit dem Mountainbike zur Priesberg-AlmDer Weg bis zu den beiden östlichen Kasern auf der Priesberg-Alm ist für Radfahrer freigegeben. Für Radfahrer freigegebene Wege sind im Nationalpark Berchtesgaden markiert und leicht an den weißen Schildern mit grüner Schrift/Symbolik zu erkennen. Hier sind die Tourenziele, die Entfernung und die entsprechenden Höhenmeter angegeben. Gibt es keine solche Beschilderung, ist das Radfahren im Nationalpark verboten – auch wenn kein explizites Verbotsschild vorhanden ist! Verstöße gegen das Verbot werden im Nationalpark Berchtesgaden grundsätzlich mit einem Bußgeld geahndet
