A great tour! Once you reach the summit of Schneibstein, you will be rewarded with magnificent views of the surrounding mountain scenery, the green shimmering Königssee, and the impressive east face of the Watzmann massif. With the help of the Jenner cable car, the ascent and descent can be significantly shortened, which is why Schneibstein is also considered the "easiest" 2000-meter peak in the Berchtesgaden Alps. A popular tour in both summer and winter! The descent also takes us past a variety of cozy places to stop and rest.
From the Königssee parking lot, 605 m, we walk to the Jenner valley station, 635 m. After the ascent to the Jenner mountain station, 1802 m, our goal for the day, Schneibstein, appears to the southeast. We keep to the left and follow a wide forest road downhill over the ski slope. At the first intersection, we turn right towards Schneibstein. We continue to follow the ski slope down to the Mitterkaserjoch, 1689 m, and along a wide path following the signs to the Stahlhaus, 1733 m. At the Stahlhaus, we keep right and now follow a narrow trail that initially ascends moderately over a dwarf pine ridge in a southeasterly direction. After a notch, our path becomes steeper and takes us through steep, rocky dwarf pine gullies to a wavy, karstic high plateau called the so-called flower garden at about 1900 m. Beyond that, we have to overcome two craggy terrain steps in a left bend. At 2090 m, we once again reach a small ascending high plateau below the NW ridge of Schneibstein. We follow this
