Selected alternatives for you
The Schneibstein (2275 m) is a premier ski mountain: a great view combined with easy access via the Jennerbahn cable car make it a sought-after destination.

The icing on the cake: You can choose between different descent options. However, this should not obscure the fact that the route becomes truly high alpine in poor visibility and without a track.

Need a boost before the route? The Carl-von-Stahl-Haus offers excellent, classic alpine dishes – and good coffee.

    Roadbook

On sunny days, you can already enjoy the Watzmann panorama during the ascent to Schneibstein. At the summit, there is a 360-degree panoramic view that stretches from the Totes Gebirge over the Dachstein to the Chiemgau. The most impressive sights are the expanses of the Hagen Mountains and the Stone Sea. Locals can easily name a handful of descent options: the Bockskehl is the shortest, the Reinersbergbrückerl and the Kleine Reibn (described here) are two others. The legendary Große Reibn circles Königssee and Watzmann completely. But even the "Kleine" Reibn is not really small and offers insights into the natural beauty of Berchtesgaden National Park. Those who want to stay longer have the Carl-von-Stahl-Haus Alpine club hut, ideally located.

Route: Descend east from the Jenner mountain station, cross the ski area until you can climb on the summer trail to the Stahlhaus. Continue over the northwest ridge and a little to the left onto a ledge. Ascend through the following steep hollow on the left under the summit slope to the northwest ridge and follow it to Schneibstein (2275 m). From the summit, descend southwest to Windscharte (2103 m). Here, descend into the cirque under Fagstein and Schlunghorn just before Seeleinsee. After a short climb, head to Rossfeld. Then follows a long descent northwest to Priesbergalm. From there, take the alpine road out into the Königsbachgraben and gently descend to the Jenner middle station or valley station. With good snow conditions, descend from Königsbachgraben also via the Hochbahn (ski track) to the Jenner piste.

Cable car Jennerbahn, Jennerbahnstr. 18, 83471 Schönau am Königssee, tel. 08652 95810, first ride 9:00 am, last descent 5:00 pm, jennerbahn.de
