This long circular tour, or as the locals call it, a »Reibn«, is a popular mountain hike at any time of the year with several highlights. From the summit plateau of the Schneibstein, a fantastic panoramic view opens up of the mighty mountain backdrop of the Berchtesgaden Alps. Right through the karstic Hagengebirge, it leads to the quietly shimmering Seeleinsee below the Kahlersberg. With a bit of luck, ibexes graze along the path. The return journey leads from the Priesbergalm along the popular Königsweg over gentle alpine meadows. As a day tour, the Kleine Reibn is recommended only for those with good stamina due to its length; an overnight stay at the Stahl- or Schneibsteinhaus saves us 2.15–3 hours of walking time on the second day.
From the Hinterbrand car park, 1130 m, we follow the signs towards Stahlhaus and ascend along the steep Krautkaser ski slope and other ski slopes, past the operated Mitterkaser, 1530 m, to the Mitterkaserjoch, 1689 m. Here we keep left and traverse along the south side on the ridge of the Pfaffenkegel to the Stahlhaus, 1733 m. At the Stahlhaus we keep right and follow a path through dwarf pines towards Schneibstein. Behind a small col, we ascend over a steep incline to the so-called Blumengarten, a karstic, rising high plateau. In a left bend, we cross two terrain steps to the broad ridge of the NW ridge. We follow this to the summit of Schneibstein, 2276 m. At the highest point of our hike, we enjoy an extensive panoramic view offered here. However, the majority of our hike still lies ahead. From the summit cross, we descend southwards over undulating rocky and scree terrain to the Windscharte, 2093 m. We keep right and traverse along the west side of the Windschartenkopf across some
