This route is a stage of Section ST3 of the Sultans Trail, an international long-distance hiking trail from Vienna to Istanbul. The hiking route follows historic roads through eight countries (Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey), linking towns and villages in a traditional cultural and historic landscape.

The route passes Budafok-Tétény and Nagytétény before arriving at Érd-Ófalu.

Leaving Budapest, the trail follows the Danube south along the embankment and through the former harbour and industrial districts. At Nagytétény stands the Nagytétény Castle, an 18th-century residence that now houses a museum of historic interiors.
At Érd-Ófalu, the route reaches a stretch of the Roman road that once ran along the Danube frontier. Its stone pavement is preserved in the modern street. Nearby stands the Ottoman minaret of Érd, one of the few remaining in Hungary. Below the slope lies the Szent Mihály well, which has been used since Roman times. A memorial marks the departure of King Louis II and his army in 1526 on their march toward Mohács.
The stage ends at Érd-Ófalu, where the Roman road continues south across the plain.

    Equipment

This stage of the Sultans Trail requires standard long-distance hiking equipment. Weather protection is essential, including rain and cold gear, depending on the season. In late spring and early summer, mosquito deterrents are strongly recommended, while during the hot season, sun protection and a sufficient water supply are essential. Reliable offline navigation tools should be carried at all times.
