In addition to the historic Ottoman pool, the complex has evolved over centuries. At the end of the 19th century, modern therapeutic swimming facilities and saunas were added, making Rudas a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary wellness features. The bath occupies a historically strategic location along the Danube River, surrounded by landmarks of Ottoman Buda, including Sokollu Mustafa Pasha’s former mosque, caravanserai, and shops, as well as Hindi Baba’s monastery. The bath has long been a meeting place for locals and travelers, a sanctuary where the rituals of steam, soak, and conversation have remained largely unchanged for centuries.
Rudas also offers night bathing on Fridays and Saturdays from 22:00 to 03:00, a rare opportunity to experience the historic bath under atmospheric lighting, giving the sense of stepping back in time. Visitors under 14 are not permitted, ensuring the serene ambiance remains uninterrupted.
