Régi Benta Híd is an old stone bridge over the Benta stream in Százhalombatta, Hungary. Locals call it the “Roman bridge”, though it likely dates back to the 18th century rather than Roman times. Built of shaped stone with two vaulted arches, it’s a historic and picturesque walking spot near the river and the nearby power plant area, and is appreciated as part of local heritage and a pleasant place for a stroll.
The Régi Benta Híd (Old Benta Bridge) spans the Benta stream and once served as part of a local roadway before newer infrastructure was built. The bridge is constructed with two stone arches, featuring carefully cut and fitted masonry with a vaulted structure roughly 50 cm thick. Although popularly referred to as a Roman bridge, there’s no solid evidence it dates to Roman times; this local name likely stems from its proximity to historic Roman roads (limes routes) in the area. The bridge stands as a cultural monument and offers a scenic, atmospheric link to the region’s transportation history, now primarily used by pedestrians exploring the Benta valley near Százhalombatta’s natural and industrial landscapes.
