If you don't want to hike as far, you can also choose to hike only individual stages and thus only part of the entire trail.

Achensee - Hiking around the Tyrolean Sea
The Achenseee is the largest lake in Tyrol and is also affectionately known as the Tyrolean Sea. The region is particularly suitable for families as there is a wide range of activities and hikes on offer. The best thing is to cool off in the lake afterwards, which makes for an ideal end to the day. The crystal-clear water, which shimmers in a turquoise-blue colour, is particularly impressive. The idyllic villages of Maurach, Achenkirch and Pertisau are located on the shores of the lake, which can be reached from Wiesing.
In the Karwendel Nature Park and in the Rofan mountains around Lake Achensee, there is a network of 500 kilometres of hiking trails. You can take the Karwendel mountain railway or the Rofan cable car for the first few metres of ascent, where you will be greeted by unique nature. In the Karwendel mountains in particular, you should keep your eyes open and look out for golden eagles, as the highest density of golden eagles in the Alps can be found here.
A hike to the Sonnjoch, from whose summit you have a breathtaking view of the region, is particularly popular. The Mondscheinspitze is also very popular and is a more challenging hike that requires surefootedness. Hikes along and around the lake are also recommended, especially in summer.
Hiking in the picturesque Alpbachtal
The Alpbachtal can be explored on a network of 900 kilometres of hiking trails. It is located between the Kitzbühel Alps and the eastern Rofan Mountains. The traditional farming village of Alpbach is characterised by its magnificent flowers and is known for its uniform wooden building style, which creates a rustic atmosphere.
From there, you can start a circular hike around the Gratlspitze. The 1,893 metre high mountain is Alpbach's local mountain. Kramsach is also one of the main towns in the valley and has numerous lakes with bathing facilities and opportunities for hiking.
Quieter tours are possible through the Tiefenbachklamm gorge, the Kundler Klamm gorge and the Kaiserklamm gorge. The hike to Lake Zireiner See, the "Blue Eye of the Rofan", is also popular.

Hikes to idyllic lakes around Seefeld
The Seefeld region lies on a plateau at 1,200 metres above sea level and boasts a diverse natural landscape. A network of over 650 km of trails through the Mieminger Gebirge, Karwendel and Wettersteingebirge mountains covers every level of difficulty - the perfect conditions for an active holiday.
On the Seefeld circular hike, you can explore three lakes at once - the Möserer See, the Lottensee and the Wildmoos-See. However, you won't be able to discover the last two mountain lakes at any time of year, as they disappear again after a few weeks.
This natural phenomenon can be explained by snowmelt and spring precipitation, but it has never been possible to determine exactly when the lakes can be marvelled at.
