Unique in its appearance and stories from the past, this former iron forging centre is tucked away in the lush Lipnica valley. Some of Kropa's houses date back over 500 years. For over 4 centuries nails were the main product. There were 120 different kids of nails. They were being forged in 19 forges in Kropa and transported to mediteranean area.
The rich legacy of the manual forging of nails and artistic iron forging is attested to in the Iron Forging Museum and one forge, the Vigenjc Vice, still keeps it's 19th Century look.

Kropa is great to be explored during a half-day trip from Radovljica or Bled. You can visit it with bike or car. From Bled, follow signs for Lesce/Radovljica and turn towards Kropa in Lesce. Follow main road through Lipnica Valley and turn right for Kropa after about 15 min.
If traveling with your car, from Kropa you can continue to Jamnik to have a view from one of the most scenic spots in Slovenia or even furter towards Škofja Loka for a walk around the medieval town centre.
If traveling with bike, Jamnik can still be a choise for good bikers, otherwise stop in the village called Kamna Gorica for a quick look.
