    On the hike along the Hildegard von Bingen Pilgrimage Trail, the universal scholar and probably the most famous personality of the Middle Ages is commemorated. The trail leads through Hildegard's land over around 135 kilometers.

    Distance 133.4 km
    36:45 h
    3,033 m
    3,195 m
    472 m

    The trail runs past historic sites where Hildegard lived:

    Niederhosenbach as her probable birthplace and family seat;
    Disibodenberg, where she entered the monastery and lived for almost 40 years (1112-1150);
    Sponheim, where Hildegard was given to her teacher Jutta von Sponheim at the age of eight (1106); and
    Bingen am Rhein, where she founded her own women’s monastery (around 1150).
    The final stations on the pilgrimage trail are the St. Hildegard Pilgrimage Church in Rüdesheim-Eibingen with the Hildegard shrine and the St. Hildegard Benedictine Abbey in Rüdesheim-Eibingen.

    Author’s recommendation

    For the visit to the Disibodenberg monastery ruins, a little time should be planned in order to enjoy the atmosphere peacefully.

    User Questions

    October 05, 2024
    Steph Hier
    Hallo Herta, es waren schon etliche Strecken im Wald, über Wiesen und durch die Weinberge, also abseits der Straße. Was für Wanderer ja sehr schön ist. Ich habe gute Beratung beim Fremdenverkehramt bekommen. Vielleicht gibt es ja eine alternative Route für Fahrradfahrer. Auf jeden Fall eine sehr schöne Strecke. Wenn ich noch einen Ansprechpartner finde melde ich mich noch mal. Viel Erfolg!
