Tips and suggestions
Many interesting facts about Steinbach, the surroundings, the history, etc. can be found in the comprehensive work "Historical facts about land and people" by Michael März from Steinbach. The author has authorized the reference to his book. Especially the eventful history of the entire area, e.g. during the Thirty Years' War with changing rulers between the Spanish and the Swedes and battles between Steinbach and Imsbach or during the French period around 1800, is vividly described.

The circular hike starts towards Steinbach with the marking "white triangle" at the hut of the Pfälzerwald Association Steinbach just above the Celtic village, which is worth a detour either at the beginning or the end of the hike.

Passing the youth hostel with accommodation options,

the Hahnweiler Street is reached, where you turn left. The path outside the village leads west; just behind the pond of the angling club, you turn right and reach the trail marked "Yellow Bar" and "Pfälzer Höhenweg" at the forest edge, which then continues to the left. The "Yellow Bar" marking is also followed after branching off the Höhenweg through the Borntal until the junction "Krummkehr."
Trail with marking "Yellow Bar"
It continues left with the yellow bar and now again the marking of the "Pfälzer Höhenweg" over "Grohes Rondell" to the Kronbuch Hut, which is staffed at certain times.
From the hut, you go left uphill towards the Hohenfels ruin and Beutelfelsen with the "Iron Man" and magnificent views; at Hohenfels, you meet the path coming from the left marked "White Cross," which you follow straight ahead.
