Climb the Königsstuhl on the Donnersberg as the highest natural point of the entire Palatinate with a wonderful view over the northern Palatinate mountain landscape!
Take a look at the other interesting circular hikes in the area of the Winnweiler collective municipality (see details), which were created by the local groups Winnweiler, Imsbach, Steinbach, Münchweiler a.d. Roadbook
Our hike starts at the hiking car park for the "Kronbuchhütte." We cross the so-called "Teufelsbrücke" and go down the narrow path directly below the bridge towards Marienthal; we are on the Palatinate Heights Trail with its distinctive marking up to Marienthal and the "red bar" marking of the Palatinate-Vosges hiking trail (which we follow uphill later to the Keltenhütte on the Donnersberg).
Donnersberg stages of the Palatinate Heights Trail
The Appelbach springs from the Appelbrunnen with clear water.
The path leads past the beautifully located Mordkammerhof, whose name only spreads murder terror in legends. This "murder" derives from "moor." Before tackling the approximately three-kilometer-long ascent to the burnt mountain, a detour to the nearby Marienthal is recommended. There you can stop at the "Blockhütte." The highest peak of the Palatinate - the 687 m high Donnersberg with its Celtic history - is literally the highlight of the route. You can refresh yourself here at the "Keltenhütte." Nearby, distinctive buildings of the Donnersberg can be admired: The roughly 200 m high SWR transmission tower
and the Ludwigsturm. The panoramic view from the Ludwigsturm, built in 1865, is fantastic, and climbing the 142 steps to the viewing platform is absolutely worthwhile.

And you must have climbed the highest peak - the Königsstuhl - and will be thrilled by the magnificent view.
The Königsstuhl on the Donnersberg
Going downhill from the Königsstuhl again on the Palatinate Heights Trail (blue-white wave marking back to the starting point) past the Hühnerberg to the rest area "Krummkehr." Here at the "feeding place," you can comfortably sit in a small stone hut. Then follows the ascent over the distinctive "Grohe Rondell" – a junction named after a forester Grohé. Finally, you reach the "Kronbuchhütte," which invites you to food and drink on weekends. After just under a kilometer, you reach the starting point of the hike again.

Directions
The Kronbuchhütte hiking car park is located in Falkenstein opposite the access to the Falkensteiner Hof and the weekend area. Falkenstein can be reached via the K 37 both from Winnweiler (B 48, then at Eisenschmalz onto L 392) and from Imsbach, also L 392, through the Falkensteiner Tal. From the north, you can also turn off from the L 386 (Rockenhausen to Kirchheimbolanden) shortly before Marienthal onto the K 37.Coordinates
