    Roadbook

From the citizens' center Münchweiler, proceed to the Gonbacher Straße railway crossing. Cross the railway and then turn right into the first street (Kapellenstraße). At house number 22, turn slightly right onto a field and meadow path that runs along the railway to the agricultural experimental station "Hofgut Neumühle". Cross the street coming from the right at the railway crossing there and walk past the long main building of Neumühle.

    http://www.hofgut-neumuehle.de

After the building, go left up past the training workshops to the very back, entering the meadow path. There, at the first fork in the meadow area, turn right. Now, upon entering the forest, pass a small water house on the right below Katharinenkopf, continuing straight ahead. After about 2 km through forest only, you will reach the hiking trail marked "white-blue" bar. First, shortly right, then after a few meters at the forest edge left, follow the "white disc" straight ahead until the next crossroads with the field name "Grillingswald". Cross the path and after about 30 m turn right onto a forest drive. Follow this until the next forest drive, which initially leads right and left. Cross the L 394. At the Retzbergweiher pond, you can take a break at the hut there after circling the pond.

    https://www.retzberghuette.de/

Return on this side of the pond to the hiking car park; at this point, go right up to the L 394.

Cross this to the left and then after about 50 m turn slightly right. At the next forest path running crosswise, keep left until the "rest bench" by the "Fat Oak". Continue past the bench on the right towards Gonbach. Follow the path to the main road Gonbach at the edge of the village. After a few meters, turn left into the village street "Am Haferberg", at the end of the street turn right to "Am Perlenberg". Turn left here up the ascent; at the village edge turn right and after a few meters left again; at the height past a wood storage until you again reach the "white-blue" path. Follow this right to the Hohlsteinhütte of the OG Münchweiler of the Palatinate Forest Club with a wonderful view.

The Hohlsteinhütte of the Palatinate Forest Club Münchweiler a.d. Alsenz

Follow the "white-blue" path back to the starting point at the citizens' center Münchweiler.

    Public transport

    Public-transport-friendly

Travel directly to the start point of the hike by train (Alsental Railway) from Bingen/Bad Kreuznach/Mainz or Hochspeyer/Vorderpfalz/Kaiserslautern hourly.

During the summer months from early May, the "touristic" Zellertalbahn runs on Sundays and holidays, connecting the greater Worms area (from Monsheim) with Münchweiler. Timetables can be obtained from DB or VRN information; in 2019, no train service operates due to planned necessary track works. Whether this will be realized in 2020 was not foreseeable in summer 2019.
