Oberhalb der Schapbachalm liegt die Stubenalm am Watzmann. Von der Wimbachbrücke im Bergsteigerdorf Ramsau oder vom Wanderparkplatz Hammerstiel in Schönau ist die Alm auf dem bekannten Weg zum Watzmannhaus in etwa 2 Stunden zu erreichen.
Alm unterhalb des Watzmannhauses
Die Stubenalm liegt unterhalb des Watzmannhauses, beim Aufstieg zum Unterkunftshaus auf dem Normalweg kommt man hier vorbei. Wer hier eine kleine Rast einlegt, wird mit einer wirklich schönen Alm belohnt, die einen tollen Ausblick nach Ramsau in Richtung Reiter Alm und Hochschwarzeck bietet. Der weitere Weg zum Watzmannhaus führt zuerst über die bewirtschaftete Mitterkaseralm und dann zur nicht bewirtschafteten Falzalm. Auf der Stubenalm stehen zwei landwirtschaftlich genutzte Almhütten, sogenannte Kaser und eine Diensthütte. An den beiden Kasern können Wanderer und Bergsteiger einkehren, kleine Brotzeiten und Getränke sorgen für Erfrischung und Stärkung.
Im Winter mit den TourenskiIm Winter führt die Skitour auf die Watzmann Gugl, eine der klassischen Skitouren in den Berchtesgadener Alpen, an der Stubenalm vorbei.
Mit dem Mountainbike zur Stubenalm
Der Stubenweg von der Schapbachkreuzung ist bis zur Stubenalm für Radfahrer freigegeben. Auf dem weiteren Weg in Richtung Watzmannhaus ist das Radfahren verboten. Verstöße gegen das Verbot werden im Nationalpark Berchtesgaden grundsätzlich mit einem Bußgeld geahndet
