Explore the footpaths of Andros which combine traditional man-made stony landscape with beautiful settlements, breathtaking views, some interesting mountain passes and picturesque beaches. Usually starting from a settlement easily accesible with bus, hikers will have the chance to explore the islandish backcountry of Andros on their way to another settlement, a peak, or a beach. Although most routes are not circular, one could plan ahead and choose 2 or 3 trails to make a circle, or order a taxi to pick them up at the end of their daily route. Wide stone-paved trails - or sometimes impressive slab-paved trails take hikers along the old road network of the island from one village to the other, with an impressive multitude of water fountains, and agricultural ruins along the way. This cycladic island with an impressive abundance of water and vegetation awaits hikers to explore its hidden beauties.
An active group of locals is responsible for the creation, conservation and presentation of these trails, as well as the ongoing expansion of the network.
