Ring Roads Circular Route

The city walk proceeds chronologically and therefore starts at Westbahnstraße. Important for urban expansion in the 19th century was the connection to the train stations. The street line of Westbahnstraße is an axis leading out to the West station and at the same time the oldest coherent development of Gründerzeit Landau. The mostly late-classical two- to three-story plastered buildings fit together into mostly closed rows of houses between 1874 and 1880. 

The walk begins at the former Royal Bavarian District Office at Westring 23. It was the basic type of the free-standing single house of the 1880s: a building with a pitched roof, axially designed structure with a middle projection emphasized by an addition. The neighboring house at Westring 25 has an identical basic form. With coupled window frames, hanging ornaments, and console friezes, it exhibits a more lavish decoration.
