In 1939, the park was named after Prince Thomas Ludwig of Savoy, who fell during the siege of the fortress of Landau.
This green area of about 1 hectare was part of the "Westpark" until the construction of the railway line in 1874.
On the edge of the Savoy Park is the excavation site of the Landau Fortress Construction Association. There is a large number "41" on the meadow, which commemorates the fortification Lunette 41.
