The Festhalle in Landau is one of the most prominent art-nouveau festival and theatre buildings in southern Germany. It was built between 1905 and 1907 by Düsseldorf-based architect Hermann Goerke in a South German art-nouveau style. While the picturesquely assembled exterior building remained largely untouched over the decades, the interior underwent extensive transformations as a result of the renovations in 1958 and 1959 as well as in 1971 and 1972, which severely impaired the original art-nouveau features. The complete renovation from 1999 to 2001 brought the room closer to its original appearance in the Great and Small Halls. The lost artistic features were restored in the process.
Today, the Festhalle is offered as a multifunctional venue with state-of-the-art technology. A lot of hard work went into restoring its historic art-nouveau features in accordance with the preservation order. Meetings, congresses, conferences and company presentations, receptions, balls and gala events, lectures and panel discussions, concerts, plays and cultural events can be held here. In addition to the exclusive art-nouveau atmosphere, the building features outstanding stage and congress technology, as well as the best equipment following its complete renovation. This also include a retractable moving floor in the large ballroom.
