Klagenfurt - Maria Saal - Gottesbichl - cultural hike

We leave Domplatz heading north and soon reach the Glan, which coming from St. Veit determines most of the rest of the route. Past the hospital to Poppichl and Karnburg, where we go into the town if interested and choose the steep but very interesting Way of the Cross to the old palace church (town center, left). Back to the Glan and on a narrow road towards Maria Saal, the cathedral is visible from afar. We reach the train station and behind it a cycle path, which we follow briefly, then take the first turn on the right up to the beautiful open-air museum. Afterwards towards the cathedral and visit the cathedral. From the cathedral via the main square onto federal highway 106, which leads to Magdalensberg. At the first intersection (Zell/Materl) turn right onto the designated road towards Gottesbichl, here also runs the route of the VIRUNUM cycle path. Past rural farms to Gottesbichl, on the east side of the airport's runway over the Pischeldorf country road to Welzenegg. Here over a very well-kept beautiful suburb of Welzenegg back to the starting point.
