Pilis Bike Pauline route (INFO Piliscsév, train station)
Easily reachable by train, a relaxed route for those who prefer a cleaner, solid surface over rocky, muddy terrain. The first several kilometers serve as a warm-up to Kesztölc, followed by a small climb for the challenge.
After the brief ascent, we find ourselves in Klastrompuszta. The area of this settlement part itself is impressive, but it is worth looking into its history and visiting the monuments upon arrival. The ruins of the Pauline monastery founded in 1250 and the adjacent hunting lodge, which operated as a tourist house between 1927 and 2004, can be reached without leaving the route. Towering above them are the impressive rock formations of the Klastrom Cliffs. A short detour allows discovering the caves hidden between the Legény and Leány caves of the Csévi Cliffs.
Given the many sights at the turning point of the tour, despite the low number of kilometers, spend plenty of time on this excursion as you won’t get bored even if you are not sitting in the bike saddle.

Description:
Piliscsév - Klastrompuszta (PB12)
- Terrain: asphalt, gravel road
Starting from the railway station, we approach the settlement along the bike path running parallel to the main road, and when it ends, we carefully return to the road. We cycle along the main street forming the spine of the village following its curve, and at the far end, we continue straight on the gravel dozer road.
After a few kilometers, on the right, the Statue of Saint Vendel appears between the dozer road and the field. Interestingly, the area was inhabited already in Roman times; a Roman milestone found during plowing forms the base of the statue.
We find ourselves on a straight, gravel dozer road bordered by fields and pastures on either side, surrounded by mountains from all directions in the background. We pedal straight along the field for a long time, with the only task being to avoid the smaller and larger holes. Reaching the border of Kesztölc, we turn right onto the asphalt road, then cycle through the entire settlement along the main street. After the far end, the road starts to ascend and we struggle with the elevation for 2-3 kilometers. At the end of the climb, the turning point of our route appears. Klastrompuszta is impressive by its location alone, but it is worth exploring its history and visiting the monuments upon arrival. The ruins of the Pauline monastery founded in 1250 and the hunting lodge next to it, which operated as a tourist house between 1927 and 2004, can be reached without leaving the route. Towering above them are the impressive rock formations of the Klastrom Cliffs. A short detour allows us to discover the caves hidden between the Legény (Bachelor) and Leány (Maiden) caves of the Csévi Cliffs.
Klastrompuszta - Piliscsév (PB12)
- Terrain: asphalt, gravel road
After the rest, we turn back and roll back to Kesztölc, then in the center of the settlement carefully turn left onto Szent István Street. Here we cycle all the way to the edge of the town, then just after the last house, we turn left again.
On the now familiar straight road, we cycle towards Piliscsév. The only change is that this time the Pilis mountain looks down on us from our left hand side.
As is common in the area, we enter the settlement along a horse farm, then cycle along the main street. At the far end, watch out for the no-entry sign for bicycles. Here we turn onto the bike path running parallel to the road, and after a few hundred meters, we reach our final destination, the Piliscsév train station.
