Pilis Bike Boldogasszony route (Pilisszentiván P+B)
From Pilisszentiván, we set off along the paths, climbs, and settlements of the Pilisvörösvár basin to eventually reach the foot of the Pilis. This round is an ideal introduction for riders tempted from asphalt tours to the forest, as you only partly have to ride on terrain, and these trails are not too technical. Thus, it is recommended even for beginner cyclists with a trekking bike.
Of course, it should not be concealed that there are one or two climbs on the route where effort is required to get up. But by progressing slowly, resting, and regenerating on the urban sections, it is by no means an impossible mission.
Returning home, the obstacles overcome, climbs conquered, views photographed, as well as the forest’s scent and sounds, become the memories that make mounting the saddle, sweating, and struggling worthwhile.
Author’s recommendation
- If you want to save yourself an extra climb and don't want to cycle in traffic, you can turn back upon reaching the border of Pilisszántó, after enjoying the views of Pilis-tető and Hosszú Hill. This way, you skip only one asphalt climb in the center of Pilisszántó.

Safety information
- We spend a considerable amount of time on the streets of Pilisvörösvár, where traffic requires great attention. The right-of-way small streets demand as much focus as the busy main roads in the city center.

Description:
Pilisszentiván - Iluska Spring (PB6, PB7)
- Terrain: gravel road
Leaving the parking lot, at the far end of the sports field, approach the main road via Sport Street, then cross it and continue for one intersection on the parallel service road. Here turn left to conquer the climb, and at the top turn left again. Traveling along the narrow street, at its end you find yourself along the Main Road 10. Turn right at the gas station and conquer the underpass on the sidewalk bike path. On the other side, about 100 meters later at the left-hand bus stop be very attentive! Between two fences, a shoulder-width alley leads further with the S sign to the quiet, suburban area of Pilisvörösvár. At the end of a long straight, you reach the edge of the settlement. Turn left at the last houses, then right to follow the dozer road among the trees.
We reach the forest on a comfortable, smooth dirt road, where pine increasingly dominates. The limestone soil and conifers give the landscape a unique and special atmosphere. The picturesque view makes up for the effort, as a serious climb must be overcome here. At the developed resting place at Iluska Spring, you can regenerate and refresh.

Terrain: gravel road, asphalt
From here, we roll down a pleasant slope past the trail leading to the Klotild Cave and the lime burners to the edge of Pilisszántó. As we exit the forest, a stunning view unfolds before our eyes. On the left, Pilis-tető towers over the beautifully situated village with the Boldog Özséb Lookout, on the right stretches the chain of the Hosszú Hill and the Kevélyek. It is hard to tear ourselves away from the sight of the towering blocks around us. Going straight, we enter Pilisszántó’s main road, then turn left to climb a steep slope. At the edge of the settlement, turn left at the large stone parking lot, where we find the turning point of our route.
Szántó-nyereg - Iluska Spring (PB6)
- Terrain: asphalt, gravel road
After resting and turning around, we roll back easily to the saddle. After the town center, we turn right into the familiar small street. The asphalt slowly changes to gravel, and the town turns into forest. It is worth glancing back once to the Pilis mass, then a persistent climb begins, which can really make us sweat to Iluska Spring.

At the intersection, we keep left and continue to gain altitude. Meanwhile, the forest atmosphere changes, with pine again dominant. Upon reaching the peak, the landscape opens to the right, and we begin rolling down to the edge of Pilisvörösvár. Following the green cycling sign, we reach the town center through small streets, where after rolling through the underpass, we continue left at the gas station base along the narrow, single-lane street. Upon reaching Szabadság Street, we only have to go one corner further and then turn left to see the sports field again, which also marks the end of our route.
Public transport
The tour is excellently accessible by train, as the route virtually brushes past the Pilisvörösvár railway station. The station is located a few hundred meters north of the original starting point and can be safely considered the new start and end point in this case.
