Naturpark Ammergauer Alpen e.V. Verified partner
The Ammergau Alps Nature Park, established in 2017, is one of two German Alpine nature parks and, due to its extremely diverse and varied natural spaces as well as cultural landscapes, a hotspot of biodiversity and a place of attraction and longing for countless people alike.
Covering a total area of 227.38 km², the nature park is located entirely within the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the far south of Bavaria. Characteristic is the great variety of different habitats: rocky dolomite mountain ridges up to an altitude of over 2000 m above sea level, mystical mountain forests and moors, idyllic alpine pastures and meadows, one of the last near-natural Alpine rivers, and traditional places like Oberammergau or Ettal.
