An easy mountain route to the Großer Aufacker with a beautiful view of Oberammergau
The first section follows the popular "Altherrenweg" to the marked entry point to the Großer Aufacker. Partly steep switchbacks wind the path up to the summit, which awaits you with a breathtaking view of Oberammergau. At the annual Ludwig fire, mountain fires are lit here in honor of the fairy-tale king.
The descent follows wider paths through the mountain forest to the mountain guesthouse Romanshöhe (Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) where you can stop and enjoy the view over the Ammertal.
Return to the starting point by hiking again over the "Altherrenweg".
