From the parking lot at Hotel Ammerwald, the route initially takes you over a mostly cleared forest road into the forest up to the start of the Schützensteig. This narrow path winds through the mountain forest until you reach open terrain again.

In this beautiful and secluded high valley, you have a lovely view of the Hoher Straussberg and the Säuling.

On the right side on a tree, there is a information sign about the "Environmentally Friendly Ski Mountaineering" project by the German Alpine Club, which gives recommendations for the route and especially points out the Hochblasse Schönfleck forest-wildlife protection area.

The trail continues towards the hunter’s hut and follows the summer path to the Ochsenängerle and a small hut. Below the east-west ridge of the Hochblasse, the slopes become steeper and you continue uphill on the dwarf pine-covered, wide western ridge.

After crossing the forest and dwarf pine belt, you reach the open and wide summit slopes of the Hochblasse, whose summit cross is visible from afar.

As on many peaks of the Ammergau Alps, you have a fantastic panorama of the Wetterstein block, Lechtal Alps and into the Alpine foothills.

The descent follows the ascent track back down to the hunter’s hut. You descend via the Schützensteig to the starting point at Hotel Ammerwald.
