Forecast for Vils

The geographical location of Vils makes it an ideal starting point for hikes in the region. Surrounded by the Lechtal Alps in the south and the Tannheim Valley in the north, there are countless routes here that will delight beginners and experienced hikers alike.

One of the most popular hiking tours in Vils leads to the Vilser Kegel. This medium-difficulty route starts right in the centre of town and leads up to a small peak with breathtaking panoramic views of the entire valley. The trail is well signposted and is perfect for family outings or relaxing walks.

For more challenging hikes, we recommend the tour to the Vilser Alm. From there you can continue up to the Gimpelhaus, a refuge at the foot of the striking Gimpel, one of the landmarks of the region. This climb requires a little more fitness and experience, but rewards you with spectacular views of the surrounding mountain landscape.

But it's not only mountain heights that attract hiking enthusiasts to Vils - there are also beautiful hiking trails along the Vils River. One particularly popular section is the Vilstalweg, which runs from Vils to Pfronten in Germany. This well-maintained path meanders along the riverbank and offers a pleasant route for relaxing walks or bike rides.

The best seasons for hiking in Vils are spring and autumn, when temperatures are mild and nature is in full bloom or shows its bright colours. In summer, hiking can also be very beautiful, but it can be a bit more strenuous here due to the higher temperatures.
