The starting point is the valley station of the Breitenbergbahn in Pfronten. From there the tour goes through the fields at the foot of the Breitenberg along the Reichenbach into the Reichenbachklamm. Through the gorge the Via Alpina goes up to the Breitenberg. Past the Grenzer Hütte the route continues towards Aggenstein. Over the Bösen Tritt the path leads up to the Bad Kissinger Hütte. Then follows the ascent to the summit cross of the Aggenstein. The route goes back via the "Langen Strich" to the Hochalpe hiking area on the Breitenberg. The further descent takes you via the Hochalphütte to the Berghaus Allgäu and the Breitenbergbahn mountain station. From here the hiking trail follows under the route of the cable car back to the starting point.

    Author’s recommendation

Fantastic view from the summit of the Aggenstein and from the sun terrace of the Bad Kissinger Hütte. The Breitenbergbahn cable car is available for a shortcut.

    Safety information

The ascent to the summit cross of the Aggenstein is partly secured with wire ropes and requires surefootedness.

    Roadbook

From the valley station of the Breitenbergbahn, the trail leads along a forest path towards the Reichenbachklamm. Then the trail continues along narrow, earth-bound hiking trails through the Reichenbachklamm along the Via Alpina to the Breitenberg. The ascent to the Bad Kissinger Hut is via the narrow, easily accessible "Böser Tritt" mountain path. From the Bad Kissinger Hut, the mountain path leads to the summit of the Aggenstein. The trail then descends again via the Böser Tritt to the mountain station of the Hochalpbahn. From there, a wide gravel path leads back to the valley.
