Wählt man die Rundtour über das Kreuzjoch und die Wasserscharte sowie durch das Wasserrinnental und dem Ostanstieg auf den Sas Rigais, wird man bis zum Gipfelziel die Bergeinsamkeit hautnah erleben. Erst der Abstieg vom 3025 m hohen Gipfel über den Villnösser Abstieg zur Mittagsscharte und der Rückweg über den Adolf Munkel Weg zeigt die Beliebtheit dieses Anstieges auf den zweithöchsten Gipfel der Geisler Gruppe. Die Berg- und Klettersteigtour ist mit über 20 km und über 2000 Höhenmetern aufgrund der Auf- und Abstiege konditionell durchaus fordernd. Der Ostanstieg als auch der Südwest- und Villnösser-Abstieg zur Mittagsscharte sind für einen Klettersteig nicht besonders schwierig, aber dennoch sollte man zumindest für den Ostanstieg das Klettersteig-Set verwenden. Der Abstieg ist hingegen für trittsichere Alpinisten ohne Klettersteig-Set bewältigbar. Doch beim Abstieg gilt die Tritte sicher zu setzen, denn ein Absturz über das Felsgelände würde auch hier fatal enden. Der Rückweg über den Adolf Munkel Weg am Fuße der gewaltigen Nordwände der Geislergruppe zeigt diesen Gebirgsstock nochmals in seiner ganzen Schönheit.

Hoch auf den Peitlerkofel
Wer noch nicht viel Klettersteig-Erfahrung hat, begeht den leichten Klettersteig über die Schlüterhütte auf den Peitlerkofel (2813 m). Die Bergtour ist selbst ist aufgrund ihrer Länge anspruchsvoll, die Klettersteigpassagen auf den Gipfel hingegen erfreuen auch Anfänger. Alternativ kann man auch auf den kleinen Gipfel des Peitlerkofels und die Tour komplett ohne Klettersteigabschnitte absolvieren.
