Walk: Hotel Porto Roca to Vernazza

From the Hotel Porto Roca, rather than heading down the main driveway towards Monterosso, you can exit directly onto the SVA hiking trail through a gate near the swimming pool. Ask at reception about accessing this.

Shortly after you begin on the trail, you will need to pass through a national park checkpoint, so make sure to have your Cinque Terre Card with you.

A long section of steep stone steps ends at a brilliant viewpoint, after which the going is easier as the route traverses the hillside past forest, vineyards and farm terraces. 

A descent to Vernazza gives brilliant views of the village. You’ll pass another national park checkpoint as you approach the first houses.

Upon reaching the main street of Vernazza, we've plotted your route to turn right, to visit the scenic harbour where many visitors swim off the rocks and tiny beach. The train station is in the opposite direction, at the top of the main street, 200 metres from the harbour.

You will not pass anywhere to purchase refreshments until you reach Vernazza.
