Demanding hiking loop on the X1 Grenzlandweg, passing Krickenbecker Seen and scenic rest stops near Venlo.
This challenging round trip starts in Limburg and follows the X1 Grenzlandweg. You traverse a mix of asphalt, wild trails, dirt roads, and paths, demanding both endurance and surefootedness. The route features varied terrain and several elevation changes, climbing from 35 to 80 meters and totaling 70 meters of ascent and descent.
On your way, you pass the picturesque Krickenbecker Seen, a group of lakes formed by peat cutting, ideal for a scenic break. A highlight for hikers is the Forsthaus Hombergen, an excellent rest stop nestled in the Maas-Schwalm-Nette nature park. You can also stop by the Infozentrum Biologische Station Krickenbecker Seen to learn more about the lake's history and local nature before testing your skills at the Kletterwald Niederrhein high ropes course. The loop concludes back at your starting point, rewarding you with diverse landscapes and a true endurance challenge.
