Agios Georgios in Lourantianika (Kato Chorio) is a historical monument with remarkable hagiographies of the 16th century. It is a post-Byzantine church that was first mentioned in 1586 and was founded by the monk Gerasimos Lourantos and his brother Nikiforos. All the vicars who operated the church until the middle of the 20th century were priests or monks from the same family, following the “kotitzionada” (term) of the founder's will. The same family built and cared for Panagia Odigitria nearby. Thus, the family also undertakes the festive celebrations of the two temples, every April and November. At the beginning of the 18th century, Agios Georgios is referred to as a monastery in the will of the monk Joachim Lourandou. It included cells. The property of the two temples included orchards, wells and fields with olive trees, fig trees, pomegranates, carob trees, vines and beehives.
