Sandholm is an island located in Nagu’s southern outer archipelago. It has been permanently inhabited since the Middle Ages. The island's characteristic features include beautiful old stone fences, a windmill on a rock, and red cottages, boathouses, and old stone piers. You can only imagine what hard work these crafts have been without modern tools. In each stone, the touch of human hands from centuries ago.
Heather meadows and extensive junipers cut through the rocks. Under the blue sky and with the sea breeze blowing on your cheeks, you can admire the sea, birds and various insects.
Östergård has been in the family of the owner of Archipelago Holiday Ky for more than 500 years, so there is plenty of history. Until 2012, the island's oldest was Astrid Österlund (née Sjöberg), who reached the respectable age of 106 years and wrote two books about life in the archipelago.
In 1971, the last grazing animals left the island, and this has resulted in the gradual disappearance of the old seaside meadows and barren fields. In order to preserve these tradition/cultural values, we decided to start guest accommodation and grazing animals again on the island as it was 50 years ago.
You can get here either by private boat transport, or by ferry according to the schedule from Kirjais Port, Nagu, and by your own boat. You can get more detailed and up-to-date instructions by contacting info@archipelagoholiday.fi

There are only a few places to stay on the island, so as not to consume too much of the island's sensitive biotope. In 2023, one tent site and log cabin accommodation will be completed in the summer. The water comes from a borehole, the toilet is old-style outdoors, shower and washing facilities are in the outdoor sauna, cooking is available at the beach hut, which also has a refrigerator and microwave. Keep the Archipelago Clean waste and toilet point can be found near the ferry pier. There is also a so-called book exchange point. There is a wifi connection, but it does not cover every corner of the island.
Note! Disturbances may occur from time to time when we take care of the yard or build/renovate premises.
