Here is a pavilion built by Dr. Nicholas Kasapis which serves as a resting area during the tedious ascent from Kapsali to Chora.
Three pavilions were built to provide pedestrians and donkeys with a resting area during the tedious ascent from Kapsali to Chora. They are the creation of Dr. Nicholas Kasapis, who contributed remarkable social and cultural works to the local community of Kythera, and wherever else he served. For example, in Lasithi, he founded an agricultural cooperative, a home economics school and associations with a progressive and environmental orientation. When he arrived in Kythera, he loved the place, sold his house in Crete and stayed permanently on the island until the end of his life. The present pavilion, built in 1964, is called Terpsithea. The second pavilion, Kallithea, is located between the elementary school and the high school in Chora and the third, which today operates as a bar, is named Fragkiski, in honor of his wife.
