Jurmo Chapel

The current chapel is at least the fourth church building on the island. The first church was probably built on the highest point of the island. All that is left are the remains of the foundation. Lower down the slope, the remains of an outer wall and a plinth have been found, which apparently belonged to a later built church. In 1703, a wooden chapel was built, dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The current chapel dates from 1846, when residents from Jurmo, Björkö and Utö participated in the construction work.

The building is small, it measures only 7.8 x 7 m. Of the chapel's interior, one can mention an altarpiece from the middle of the 18th century, with the institution of the sacrament as a motif, and the pulpit which is probably from the 17th century. In the chapel there is also a Prussian St. Anna group, which was probably made around 1440. The church ship is a miniature model of a warship that was probably made by a sailor in the 18th century.
