Passes for salmons and beavers

Thanks to a common initiative of Pro Natura and the plant operator, the “Hello Beaver” project enables now the beaver to overcome the obstacle. Ramps and stairways have been built for this mammal, which can now climb along the river banks. Doors and closures have also been equipped with openings, which enable the mammals to go through. The beaver had totally disappeared from the region and has first appeared again upstream of the plant. Now, thanks to these new devices, it can move downstream towards Basel, Birsfelden or even beyond. On the site, the operator of the Birsfelden plant has installed an exhibit with 12 panels. Panel number 3 is devoted to the salmon and panel number 8 to the beaver. To find more about the biotope, which surrounds the dam, don’t hesitate to go to panel number 12!
