Obersteinberg, in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, is a simple and remote mountain inn tucked in a far corner of the valley, reached only by foot. It sits on a sunny slope looking across at a great mountain wall and the huge Schmadribach waterfalls.
Obersteinberg is also a working farm. They keep cows and make their own cheese. They have cozy private rooms, but no electricity - they use candles and oil lanterns for light - and there are no showers. They do provide towels and soap for washing up, and nice thick comforters on the beds.
Obersteinberg is rustic and authentic, a true alpine experience in one of the most peaceful spots we know. This is part of our signature tour, the Bernese Oberland Traverse, and always a highlight for our clients.
