The Bonatti hut sits on a steep slope just above treeline at 2025 meters, looking directly out at one of the best panoramas in the Mont Blanc region. The hut itself is bright and nice, and the outdoor terrace is a great place to relax with a drink. The combination of views, a comfortable hut and convivial atmosphere make this one of our favorite stops on the TMB.
Bonatti hut has a small number of private rooms, a couple of small group rooms, and large dormitories. If people are trying to race through the TMB on a quick trip, it's often skipped, but at Alpinehikers we like to slow down just enough to enjoy places like this. Stops like Bonatti hut are among the highlights of a great trip.
If you're not staying at Bonatti, it makes a wonderful dayhike destination from Courmayeur. Hike here, stop for a drink and the views, then descend 45 minutes to the valley floor to catch a bus back to Courmayeur. It's worth it.
