"Come closer, please, examine this spectacle that without a shadow of a doubt is one of the most beautiful, powerful and extraordinary things this planet has ... Are these stones or clouds? Are they real or is it a dream?" - Dino Buzzati

Dino Buzzati spoke thus of the Belluno Dolomites, valleys that he himself had seen nowhere else, rich in trees and waterfalls... Many corners still preserve intact and wild the enchantments of this primordial nature.

An area full of breathtaking views that can be enjoyed with outdoor activities and why not... even tasting the typical culinary delicacies!

Come and discover what awaits you in the Belluno Dolomites!

Belluno Dolomites: The Mountains of Venice

The Belluno Dolomites are home, colors, breaths, horizons that belong to all of us!

In the territory of Belluno fall 70% of the most famous mountains of northeastern Italy: an immense natural heritage to date under UNESCO protection.

The Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park has also been established within this area and is present in the southeastern part of the Dolomites. The heights vary from gentle reliefs to peaks over 2,000 meters, and the views themselves range from valley floor meadows to vertiginous rock faces via grasslands, forests and woodlands. The triumph of Mother Nature!

The Dolomites area has an Alpine-type climate, with harsh winters with temperatures that not infrequently drop below freezing and cool summers. The pre-Alpine belt and the northern part of the foothills is somewhere in between in terms of both temperature and precipitation.

Outdoor activities in the Belluno Dolomites

The territory of the Belluno Dolomites includes both medium and high mountains, which are very different from each other, but which lend themselves well to all the outdoor activities typical of mountain tourism.

The Belluno Dolomites are the ideal destination for anyone who feels the need for a breath of fresh air and rejuvenating activities such as walking, cycling, Nordic walking or horseback riding, typically of the lower Dolomite area given the gentler altitudes.

At the same time, they are the ultimate in adrenaline-pumping activities: paragliding, via ferrata and crag climbing, mountain biking and cycling. There are several adventure parks offering activities for both adults and children.

Near the lakes, on the other hand, you can go kite surfing and wind surfing, as well as relax along the beach with a good aperitif.

Trekking

Photo: Claudio Ghizzo, Dolomiti Bellunesi - The Mountains of Venice
Hiking means walking by following dedicated trails in natural environments. Walking for recreation, study or curiosity, for example. The facets of hiking can be varied depending on the type, duration and commitment required of the hiker. We begin to talk about mountaineering at the moment when equipment and techniques are used that go beyond simple walking: via ferrata, crags, ice wall. For all these scenarios, the use and knowledge of specific equipment and techniques is necessary.

The Belluno Dolomites Park is a true paradise for those who love to walk. Crisscrossed by a dense network of trails and trekking routes surrounded by greenery, the park offers something for everyone.

Bicycle touring

Photo: Bandion, Dolomiti Bellunesi - The Mountains of Venice
In the Belluno Dolomites, there are many bike paths to be taken, and there are also many different landscapes and fairy-tale villages to be encountered along the way: enchanted lakes, the flavors of the forests, and the sounds of the streams that accompany the descents. But one thing is certain and common to whatever route you choose to take: that the mountains of the Belluno Dolomites have their own unmistakable characteristic, namely that of being spectacular and authentic!

Choose with us one of the cycle routes on our territory to experience miles of emotions that tell the story of the Belluno Dolomites!!!

Climbing

Certainly the Dolomites are known for the beautiful scenery and the various hikes that can be done there, but they also represent one of the most beautiful climbing areas in the Alps, especially from spring to late fall. For both adults and children, there are the many alpine schools that offer basic courses on the use of ropes, carabiners, belay devices and climbing techniques.

Come and try climbing in the Dolomites, with the unmissable "classics" and the most exciting via ferratas. And if the weather is not in your favor, visit the most beautiful climbing gyms!

Winter Five Circles

In 1956 Cortina d'Ampezzo hosted Italy's first Winter Olympics, and in 2026, seventy years later, the world's most important winter sporting event will be held here again in the Belluno Dolomites. Specifically, during the Olympics, five disciplines were hosted: bobsledding, luge, skeleton, curling and alpine skiing.

During the Paralympics, on the other hand, from March 6 to 15, 2026, Cortina will host as many as three disciplines: para alpine skiing, paralympic snowboarding, and wheelchair curling.

There will be three venues involved:

  • The Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium
  • The Cortina Para snowboard Park
  • The Tofane alpine skiing center

But Cortina is not only synonymous with the Games: major competitions in alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowkiting, curling and snow polo are held here every year.
