A beautiful and lonely hiking tour from Klagenfurt to the Magdalensberg touches many holy places, mostly following the Marienpilgerweg to Mariazell, then on the descent the famous path of the Vierbergewallfahrt. Interesting points along the way include Maria Saal, Ottmanach (Udo Jürgens' castle grounds) and finally the Magdalensberg, inviting to linger. The special charm lies in the vast landscape with the backdrop of the Karawanken, which form a string of pearls with white flashing peaks, the lonely paths, beautiful farms and the Stutterener Moor biotope. Due to the length of the route a brisk pace is necessary, but you should stop at the Magdalensberg summit house to recharge your energy.

From the Klagenfurt Annabichl bus stop, we follow the Friesacher Bundesstraße for about 200m until a pedestrian underpass (railway) becomes visible on the right. After that, we are above the Klagenfurt Annabichl cemetery, reach Flughafenstraße and shortly after a steep ascent into the farmland and to the Weisses Kreuz wayside shrine (trail 106, Mariazllerweg). We follow the path through the Maria Saaler Berg and reach Maria Saal. About in the town center turn right into Wiklerner Landesstraße for about 500m until a crossroads. Here turn left and always follow the Pilgerweg/106 trail signs through the Maria Saaler forest to the northeast. Past the Stutterner Moor to a hill with a large farm, now turn east and on a wide arcaded street hike towards Gammersdorf - Ottmanach. Leave the church in Ottmanach on the left, immediately behind it turn left, past a forest pond higher to Göriach. At the first crossroads turn right and then immediately left onto a gravel road that leads to Magdalensberg Bundesstraße - uphill with some hairpin bends - past the excavations - the last slope on grassy land with a path directly to the summit. The descent follows the ascent until the first forest section, turn right here and steeply downhill to Göriach - continue following the Vierbergeweg signs until the Magdalensberg Bundesstraße is reached. Now stay on the federal road for about 2 km until you follow the Meiselsberg sign on the left. Now through woods and open spaces over Meiselsberg to Friesacher Bundesstraße, where the bus back to Annabichl waits in the area of GH Fleißner and GH Puck.
