A literary hiking trail
The places and locations you will hike here are life stations of August Becker or settings of his novels. In Klingenmünster, August Becker's birthplace, this literary hike begins. His birthplace stands in the town center, and opposite, in front of the former Stiftsschaffnei, is the August-Becker fountain with scenes from his novel "Hedwig." From here, the path leads to Gleiszellen-Gleishorbach, the southern neighboring village, then continues to Pleisweiler-Oberhofen, the home of the "Nonnensusel," and from there to Bad Bergzabern, where August Becker attended the "Latin School." The path then continues via Wonneberg and Metzenbühl to Dörrenbach and the Drei Eichen. Passing the Stone Table and the Hirzeckhaus, the path continues to Erlenbach to Berwartstein Castle. The hiking trail alternates between the main trail network and local hiking trails. The path then leads to Vorderweidenthal and Lindelbrunn Castle, then to Darstein and down to Dimbach. From here, it goes southeast to the shelter on the Rötzenberg and past the Isselmann stones up to Dimberg, with Gossersweiler staying to the right. The path further leads to Völkersweiler and the Asselstein, located between Ebersberg and Rehberg. Soon, you reach the Trifels, then hike east down to Neukastell and Slevogthof and further to Leinsweiler. From there, it goes back up to Madenburg and steeply down again to the Kaisersbacher Mill. The path then ascends for the last time past Schlössel and Heidenschuh to Martin's Tower and down again to the Landeck castle ruins. From there, the path returns to Klingenmünster and ends at the mountain cemetery, where August Becker's grave is located. The best way to enjoy the trail is to take enough time to look around at the various stations of the trail, so to speak, "through August Becker's eyes." You might read a few lines from the area description in "Die Pfalz und die Pfälzer."
The total length of the path is approximately 80 km. Due to the many ascents and descents along the route, the individual stages should not be chosen too long.
UFFBASSE! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
Always behave with foresight, friendliness, and consideration towards everyone you meet on the way.
Take care of nature, do not destroy plants, and always stay on the paths. Try to avoid excessive noise and leave the forest before dusk.
Remember a garbage bag for the trip and take your waste back home with you.
Please always keep your dog on a leash. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
For your own safety, observe all trail closures, even on weekends.
Park only in designated parking areas. Leave space for emergency vehicles and agricultural machines.
Give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.

General advice:
Especially in autumn, you should also be aware that leaves on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or rainstorms, trees may still fall or branches may drop afterwards. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in some places. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you believe certain sections are impassable, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We endeavor to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting groups on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please observe the instructions for your own safety.

Equipment
For our hiking tours, we recommend the following equipment as standard:
Sturdy footwear
Weather-appropriate clothing
Sun and rain protection
Sufficient supply of food and drinks, as there are not always dining or shopping options available or open everywhere.
Even though the paths are consistently very well marked, it is advisable for safety reasons to always carry a suitable hiking map, so that, for example, in case of a thunderstorm or an emergency, you can quickly find a safe area.
