The scenic natural loop combines the idyllic Amper Valley with the forest areas in the Kranzberg and Freising forests and leads to beautiful places and viewpoints.
The varied natural loop leads through forest, fields, and meadows and invites you to linger at many spots. After leaving the cathedral city of Freising, the forest in the Kranzberg and Freising forests shapes the landscape and is an excellent shade provider. A visit to the Bavarian State Arboretum "Weltwald", which clearly presents vegetation from various continents, is worthwhile.
For culture enthusiasts, the Bronze Age Bavaria Museum in Kranzberg and the St. Joseph church in Allershausen are recommended. A different landscape can be seen in the Amper Valley. The path winds through small villages up to just before Zolling, before the cathedral city of Freising offers further sights and highlights. Along the route, many places invite you to stop and quench your thirst—from the milk vending machine to the beer garden.

Roadbook
From Marienplatz in the center of Freising, continue from Obere Hauptstraße along Vöttinger Straße towards Weihenstephan, the best-known district of Freising, with its beautiful show gardens, the campus of the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, and the oldest brewery in the world. From there, follow the signs "Ring der Regionen" through the Freising forest and the Kranzberg forest. Here, a detour to the Bavarian State Arboretum "Weltwald," where trees from various continents can be admired, offers a first break.
Via Dorfacker and Kühnhausen, the route continues to Berg. There, the path turns left towards the south to the town center of Kranzberg. A visit to the Bronze Age Bavaria Museum (Pantaleonstrasse 25, https://bronzezeit-bayern-museum.de; check opening hours!) and the recreational area Kranzberger See with a swimming option is recommended. In Kranzberg, turn right onto Ringstraße and continue on the 4-star Ammer-Amper cycle path to Allershausen, where the parish church St. Josef, the Glonn terraces, and various places to stop for a break are available. Continue on the Ammer-Amper cycle path past small villages like Tünzhausen, Burghausen, and Haindlfing towards Zolling. For a wonderful view of the Amper Valley, the viewpoint in Wippenhausen (steep ascent!) is recommended.
Shortly before Erlau, turn right towards Freising and follow the signs "WasserRadlWege Oberbayern" up the Amper Valley (steep ascent) to Tüntenhausen. From there, another but easier climb must be tackled before changing sides of the street at Wieskirche and riding down a quiet gravel path along the forest edge to the Freising district of Neustift. Follow Wiesenthalstraße and turn right at the Neustift church and Neustift monastery (today’s Freising district office) into Alte Poststraße, following it for about 1 kilometer. At the large intersection, the path continues straight ahead along the traffic-calmed General-von-Nagel-Straße into the city center before turning right into Untere Hauptstraße and soon arriving back at Marienplatz.
The cathedral city of Freising itself offers numerous winding alleyways, beautiful townhouses, and various stops to conclude the route in its historic old town. A visit to the Mariendom on the cathedral hill is also worthwhile.
