Das historische Kloster Neustift liegt direkt neben der sehenswerten Pfarrkirche Neustift mit hübschem Klostergarten, der zum Spazierengehen einlädt.
Bischof Otto von Freising gründete 1142 das Prämonstratenserkloster Neustift vor den Toren Freisings, an diesem Ort existierten bereits seit dem 8. Jahrhundert zwei Kirchen und ein Hospiz. Nach Bränden entstand Anfang des 17 J.h. die Bibliothek und anschließend das Klostergebäude und der Kreuzgang. 1700 beauftragte man Giovanni Antonio Viscardi mit dem Neubau der Kirche, die 1722 geweiht wurde. Ein Brand beschädigte 1751 den Innenraum der Viscardi-Kirche. Johann Baptist Zimmermann schuf daraufhin neue Fresken, Franz Xaver Feichtmayr d. J. stuckierte den Innenraum. Ignaz Günther führte den Hochaltar, das Chorgestühl und das erste Seitenaltarpaar aus. Mit der Säkularisation erfolgte 1803 die Aufhebung des Klosters. Die Klostergebäude dienten zunächst als Kaserne und Tuchfabrik, seit 1986 beherbergen sie das Landratsamt. Aus der Klosterkirche wurde die Garnisonkirche der Kaserne, seit 1892 ist sie Pfarrkirche.

Von der Ausfahrt Freising-Ost zunächst auf der B301 Richtung Mainburg, dann links auf die Isarstraße Richtung Zentrum fahren. Nach der Luitpoldbrücke rechts in die Dr.-von-Daller-Str. bis zum Landratsamt Freising fahren.
