Die bekannte Wallfahrtskirche „Wieskirche“ liegt idyllisch am Waldrand nördlich von Freising und ist ein Kleinod des bayerischen Rokoko.
Die Wallfahrtskirche „Zum gegeißelten Heiland“ oder „Wieskirche“ ist ein Kleinod des bayerischen Rokoko. Ihre Ursprünge gehen auf die 1740er Jahre zurück: Ein Freisinger Forstaufseher, der an einer Wallfahrt zur Wieskirche bei Steingaden teilnahm, befestigte an einem Baum ein Bild des Steingadener Heilands. Bald entwickelte sich eine rege Wallfahrt. Das Domkapitel ließ deshalb 1747/48 eine Kirche errichten, die 1759 bis 1761 vergrößert wurde.

Vom Zentrum Freising aus nach Norden auf die Mainburger Straße (Richtung Mainburg) fahren. Nur wenige hundert Meter nach dem Verlassen der Stadt Freising befindet sich die Wieskirche auf der rechten Seite.
