Cross-border cycle path from Pirmasens to Bitche
The starting point is the Rheinberger building, with the Science Center "Dynamikum". Trying things out is expressly allowed here. The tourist information office Pirmasens is located on the ground floor. Pedelecs can be rented there for half-day or full-day tours. The adjacent Strecktal park is also worth a visit. In addition to relaxation areas, herb garden, playground, and lake, there is also a disc golf course. The tour initially leads us through Pirmasens further to Niedersimten. A detour can be made to the Westwallmuseum Gerstfeldhöhe Niedersimten. Originally planned as a gigantic fortress, it now serves as an underground circular tour and museum. Via Kettrichhof, Hochstellerhof, Imsbachermühle it goes to Walschbronn. There the castle ruins of Weckersburg tower. From here we ride through the valley meadows to Bitche. A sight worth seeing in Bitche is the citadel. It offers a view over the town. With an audio guide you can experience the events of the siege from 1870-1871.
UFFBASSE! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Always act in a foresighted, friendly, and considerate manner towards everyone you meet on the way.
- Respect nature, do not destroy any plants, and always stay on the paths. Try to avoid excessive noise and leave the forest before dusk.
- Remember a rubbish bag for the way and take your waste back home.
- Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
- For your own safety, observe all path closures, including at weekends.
- Park only in designated parking spaces. Leave space for rescue vehicles and agricultural machinery.
- Give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.

Safety information
Our cycling routes often run on paths shared with others. We therefore ask for always considerate and friendly behavior. Winemakers, farmers, and foresters use these service roads through fields, forests, and vineyards for their daily work (including on weekends) and therefore always have priority. Due to work activities and/or weather conditions, these paths may sometimes be more heavily soiled. Particular caution is also required when riding on the (mostly quiet and little trafficked) roads in and around the Palatinate villages.
