Club Vosgien Verified partner

The Vosgien Club was founded on October 31, 1872, in Saverne by Richard Stieve and was recognized as a public utility on December 30, 1879.

The Federation of the Vosgien Club (created in 1995) groups 123 associations governed by the 1901 law with 32,500 members. It is the oldest hiking association in Eastern France.

The Vosgien Club is a co-founder of the National Committee of Long Distance Hiking Trails (CNSGR).

It is a founding member of the European Hiking Federation (FERP), which has 600,000 members, and a founding member of the Confederation of Hikers of the Rhine Area (CRER), which has 300,000 members.

Its missions:

  • The promotion and development of hiking and other outdoor activities
  • The maintenance and marking of more than 20,000 km of trails in the Vosges massif (Alsace, Lorraine, Franche-Comté)
  • The implementation of developments and the maintenance of tourist facilities such as shelters, huts, benches, orientation tables, information gates….
  • The protection and enhancement of nature, landscapes, and heritage, defending hikers' interests by acting, when necessary, with local authorities
  • Advice and implementation of trail marking
  • Training of hiking and Nordic walking guides
