A Dunakanyar egyik legszebb kilátásához nem kell magas hegycsúcsokat meghódítanunk, elég egy könnyű sétát tenni a Szent Mihály-hegy oldalának alacsony letöréséhez.
A tisztás erdő felőli szegélyén esőbeálló fogad, előtte tűzrakó hely, pihenőpad asztallal, illetve tájékoztatótábla áll, amely a Börzsöny védett növényfajait mutatja be. A Duna felé nyúló sziklaszirtre kisétálva a közvetlenül alattunk hömpölygő folyó biztosítja a térélményt, amelyet csak fokoznak a meredély takarásában el-eltűnő autók. A túlparton Dömösre, a Visegrádi-hegység központja felé tartó Malom-völgyre, a település felett magasodó Prépost-hegyre és a Duna pilismaróti folyóteraszára látunk rá.
Az ősszel kopár tisztáson nyáron mezei virágok – mezei zsálya, útszéli bogáncs – színesítik a burjánzó füvet.
A „szökevény” hegy
A Duna fölé meredeken emelkedő Szent Mihály-hegy a Visegrádi-hegység részeként alakult ki, a folyó csak később „fűzte le” róla. A földtörténeti pleisztocén (tehát a „jégkorszak”) elején a Kárpát-medencét nyugat felől feltöltő Duna „eljutott” a Visegrádi-hegységhez, és utat talált annak lepusztult, dombsági magasságú roncsán keresztül, a mai Dunakanyar vonalában. Míg a dombvidék emelkedni kezdett, a Duna egyre mélyebbre vájta magát a vulkáni kőzetekbe, létrehozva ezzel a lassan kiemelkedett Szent Mihály-hegy mai, meredek hegyoldalait.
