Szalajkaház állomás a Szén-patak völgyében, a Szalajka-ház közvetlen közelében található. A névadó épület igazi erdei szálláshely, ráadásul környezetében vadbemutató, forrás és tanösvény is található. Egykor a vágányok továbbvezettek a völgyben Mátraszentimre irányába, egészen a Blokkházig – a Z◼ jelzésen túrázva ma is láthatók ennek nyomai talpfák, megmaradt hídfők, a még sok helyen kivehető töltés képében. Az állomás közvetlen közelében tűzrakóhely, fedett pihenőhelyek és egy kerékpárszerelő állvány is található. Nevét a régen itt előállított hamuzsírról (szlovákul salajka) kapta.
