The shortest distance of the Mátrabérc endurance hikes that follow the mountain range's ridge, the Muzsla endurance hike starts from Galyatető and reaches the Zagyva valley. This challenging one-day hike is suitable even for more experienced beginner endurance hikers, but the time limit and terrain must be tackled.

The Muzsla endurance hike, organized since 2005 by the Hanák Kolos Tourist Association, "embraces" the western part of the Mátra. The distance is challenging, the elevation gain considerable, but it can be easily completed in one day; keeping within the time limit may be the main challenge. The flat ridges and narrow crests of the western Mátra offer comfortable hiking, but climbing up the western mountain ridge culminating in Muzsla is a tiring challenge.

The hike can be divided into two parts: starting from Galyatető, it crosses the western section "sprinkled" with Upper Mátra villages, then descends into the valley of the Csörgő stream, reaching Mátrakeresztes. After the refreshment point follows the only serious challenge of the distance, the climb to the Muzsla ridge. The route, sometimes mild, sometimes steep, begins a long descent after the peak, and passes by several lookout points, leading to Szurdokpüspöki.

The Muzsla endurance hike is recommended for those who have already trained for distances longer than 20 kilometers and dare to undertake a tiringly long one-day hike at an even pace.
