A többgyermekes családok körében ismert Városi, avagy Tungsram szabadstrand nem hiába kapta a nevét, hiszen a város központjától nem messze található, kocsival és bicajjal is könnyen megközelíthető. A kisebb gyermekeket nyugodtan lehet hagyni a vízben egyedül játszani, mert egy lassan mélyülő, zárt öböl van a bejárattal szemben, ami ráadásul egy uszodai kötéllel el is van kerítve. A kisgyermekes családoknak előny lehet még a sok árnyékos rész, a szökőkutas kismedence és a játszótér is.
A 3500 m²-es zöldfelülettel rendelkező szabadstrandon a nagyobbaknak van kialakított homokos strandröplabda- és lábteniszpálya, valamint a víz mélyebb részén kaput is szoktak állítani a főszezonban a vízi játékokhoz. A strandon működik két büfé is, és egy 50 férőhelyes ingyenes parkoló.

- Ha vonattal utazunk, a Fonyód állomásnál szálljunk le.
- A Siófok felől érkező buszokról a Fonyód, Fő utca megállónál szálljunk le.

Directions
- A vasútállomástól a 7-es úton induljunk Bélatelep felé, amíg egy vasúti átjáróhoz nem érünk. Átkelünk a síneken, és máris ott találjuk magunkat a strandon (1 km).
- A buszmegállótól a Kossuth-erdőn keresztül vezet egy ösvény, amelynek végén egy lépcsőn keresztül jutunk le a partra, a vasúti átjáróhoz (450 m).

- A 7-es út túloldalán, a stranddal szemben találunk parkolóhelyeket.
