A Somosi szabadstrand a félsziget mentén futó Lepke soron található, az Akasztó-domb aljában. Strandnak talán túlzás is hívni, inkább engedélyezett fürdőhely elnevezés illene rá. A parton betonplázs lejárók vannak, és onnan lépcsőn lehet bemenni a lassan mélyülő vízbe. Az apró strand látogatása ingyenes, de mivel közvetlenül az autóút mellett terül el, így kisgyermekes családoknak elsősorban nem ezt a tihanyi fürdőhelyet ajánljuk.
A strandon van egy WC-blokk és egy alumínium falú öltöző, valamint az út másik oldalán egy büfét és parkolót találunk.

Public transport
- A Veszprém, Balatonfüred vagy Budapest felől érkező buszokról a Tihany, Újságíró üdülő megálló esik a legközelebb.
- Ha a falu felől érkezünk, leszállhatunk a Tihany, alsó megállónál is.

- A buszmegállótól induljunk el a sziget csücske felé, 400 méter múlva érjük el a strandot.
- A felső megállóból indulva a parkoló felé induljunk, innen lépcsőn juthatunk le a partra (350 m).
