A series of routes connecting Tihany with Akarattya along the shore in the eastern basin of Lake Balaton

During the route, on one side we are accompanied by the endless turquoise, dark green, but mostly multicolored surface of Lake Balaton. On the other side, we can admire the mountains surrounding the eastern basin from numerous viewpoints. Towering above us is the Tihany Abbey, then between Füred and Csopak the hills follow us in parallel, with the Somlyó-hill lookout stretching high at Alsóörs. From Almádi, we can clearly see the old Horthy lookout, then at the foot of the Vár and Megye hills, we turn southeast in the Fűzfő bay, from where we can admire the high bank loess cliffs from the water. Along the way, countless reed beds and small hidden spots accompany us, rich in wildlife. The experience is guaranteed even if you only want to do one section, as the real Balaton is found away from the noise of the beaches. The tours can be done not only by kayak but also more leisurely on a SUP. After the end of the route series, we will certainly appreciate the beauty of Balaton from a different perspective. A much quieter, more measured, and closer-to-nature viewpoint.

    Author’s recommendation

The paddling time and difficulty level of the sections greatly depend on the weather conditions. In case of sudden strong waves and/or wind, a short and easy route can immediately turn into a long and difficult challenge.
